Leave management
Public holidays
Days off per location that never use up anyone's leave.

- How to enable
- Always on. Add or import holidays for each location.
Public holidays are days off that don't count against anyone's balance. Each holiday belongs to a location, so every office can follow its own country's calendar.
How it works
- Adding holidays. Add them one at a time, or import a country's public holidays for a given year. An import brings in official public holidays only, not optional days or observances, and skips dates that already have a holiday at that location.
- Counting leave. When someone books leave, only their working days count. Saturdays, Sundays and their location's holidays are skipped, and each remaining day counts as the employee's daily working hours.
- Fixed at submit. A request's length is worked out when it's submitted. Adding or removing a holiday later doesn't recount requests already booked.
- Where they show. Holidays appear on the team calendar and in the dashboard's upcoming holidays.
Good to know
- Employees without a location have no holidays, so every weekday counts as a working day for them.
- Holidays and blackout periods do different jobs: holidays are free days off, while blackouts limit when leave can be booked.
- Imports cover one year at a time, so import again for each new year.
