Billing has two pages. Plan shows your current plan and subscription. Usage shows your billable seats, a monthly estimate, and how much of each plan limit you use. Billing only applies to the hosted version of openbranchhq.
How it works
- Seats. A seat is an employee whose employment is underway: active or offboarding. People with a future start date aren't billed yet, and archived people never are. The same count is used for the Free plan's 5-employee limit and for Pro pricing.
- Pro pricing. Pro is $25 per month for up to 10 active employees, plus $3 for each additional employee. As people join or leave, your subscription's seat count is updated automatically. It never goes below 10.
- Usage against limits. For each limit (locations, departments, employees and leave types), the Usage page shows how many you use and how many your plan allows. It also shows which features your plan includes, such as accruals, carryover and approval chains.
- Upgrading. Upgrade from Free to Pro through a secure hosted checkout. Your new limits apply as soon as payment completes. Enterprise has custom pricing and is arranged with us directly.
- Managing or cancelling. Use the hosted customer portal to update payment details or cancel. A cancelled subscription keeps Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
Good to know
- If a payment fails, owners and admins see a banner. Everything keeps working while the card is retried. If the payment keeps failing, the plan drops to Free.
- Dropping to Free never deletes data. Anything over a Free limit stays, but you can't add more. You also can't create or edit settings that use a Pro feature until you upgrade again.
- Self-hosting, coming soon, has nothing to pay for: billing isn't set up and every limit is lifted.
